“Obama represents so much hope for blacks and Latinos. The hope he represents is bigger than any of the huge problems he could possibly correct,” he said. “When you have positive role models, you can change your life for the better. The day Obama got elected, the gangsta became less relevant.”
I agree fully. Black ppl especially need to dream to be something besides a successful athlete, rapper or drug dealer!!!!!!!!
Now we have proof that it can happen with hard work

Text Krazy
By BILL BERGSTROM, Associated Press Writer - Wed Apr 22, 2009 7:13AM EDT
Their thumbs sure must be sore. Two central Pennsylvania friends spent most of March in a text-messaging record attempt, exchanging a thumbs-flying total of 217,000. For one of the two, that meant an inches-thick itemized bill for $26,000.
Nick Andes, 29, and Doug Klinger, 30, were relying on their unlimited text messaging plans to get them through the escapade, so Andes didn't expect such a big bill.
"It came in a box that cost $27.55 to send to me," he said Tuesday. He said he "panicked" and called T-Mobile, which told The Associated Press it had credited his account and was investigating the charges.
The two Lancaster-area residents have been practically nonstop texters for about a decade since they attended Berks Technical Institute together.
That led Andes to search for the largest monthly text message total he could find posted online: 182,000 sent in 2005 by Deepak Sharma in India.
Andes and Klinger were able to set up their phones to send multiple messages. During a February test run they found they could send 6,000 or 7,000 messages on some days, prompting the March messaging marathon.
"Most were either short phrases or one word, 'LOL' or 'Hello,' things like that, with tons and tons of repeats," said Andes, reached by phone.
Andes sent more than 140,000 messages, and Klinger sent more than 70,000 to end the month with a total of just over 217,000, he said.
A spokesman for Guinness World Records didn't immediately return messages asking whether it would be certified as a record.

Baby Mammoth opens window to Ice Age
By Dan Vergano, USA TODAY
A baby mammoth dubbed Lyuba had her brief life cut short in a swamp 40,000 years ago, but the well-preserved specimen will provide the world a window into the extinct creatures from the Ice Age.
Discovered in 2007, the 1-month-old mammoth died suddenly, probably trapped in mud. "She was doing great, very healthy," says paleontologist Dan Fisher of the University of Michigan, part of the international team researching Lyuba. "She just had this terrible misfortune."
Lyuba appears in the May National Geographic and in Waking the Baby Mammoth Sunday (9 p.m. ET/PT) on the National Geographic Channel. She's perhaps the best-preserved mammoth ever discovered: Lyuba's skin and internal organs appear intact, as well as traces of mother's milk found in her stomach. The only damage to the mammoth, which is less than 3 feet tall, are bite marks from village dogs.

Kanye and the NBA
Check out the video featuring memorable moments from past playoff games below:
He Was Gone Retire...lol
“Kid Cudi is at the vanguard of a game-changing new generation of artists,” said Universal Motown President Sylvia Rhone. “He crosses musical boundaries with an appeal that goes beyond genre, format, race, language, and culture. Cudi lives easily in the hip-hop, indie rock, pop, and R&B worlds – a diversity that shows in his innovative music and his all-embracing persona. He is a born storyteller who brings a positive, life-affirming message to his brilliant lyrical flow and compelling music. There are no clichés in what Cudi does. He is a breath of fresh air – a dynamic and important new voice, not only in the next phase of hip-hop, but as a groundbreaking trendsetter who represents the future. I am thrilled to welcome Kid Cudi into the Universal Motown family.”
KiD KuDi is completing his debut album, Man on the Moon: The Guardian, for late summer 2009 release on Dream On/G.O.O.D. Music/Universal Motown. CuDi also is launching his own label, Dream On, along with partners Emile and Plain Pat, in a joint venture with G.O.O.D. Music later this year.
“Cudi is a combination of constant inspiration, struggle, reality and dreams put to melody!” declared superstar producer/artist and G.O.O.D. Music label founder Kanye West. KID CUDI holds two slots in the Billboard Top 20 singles this week: as an artist on his own single, and as co-writer of West’s double-platinum smash “Heartless.” “Partnering Kid Cudi with Universal Motown and Sylvia Rhone couldn't be a more natural fit,” commented Emile and Plain Pat. “They were the first major company to take notice of our movement and truly grasp our vision. We are thrilled to extend and deepen our relationship. It's a great feeling to watch the world discover the talent we saw in Cudi over these past years.”

Jessica Simpsons Music Career
The Golden Boy 2 Retire
LOS ANGELES – When the end came, it was the real Oscar De La Hoya who said goodbye, shorn of the bravado inherent in every boxer and the business persona which is his future.
As he stood in the chic surrounds of the Nokia Plaza in downtown Los Angeles, a few miles but a world apart from his humble East Los Angeles beginnings, the fight game’s Golden Boy waged a losing battle with tears as he wrenched himself away from his career.
The great and the good of the City of Angels came out in force to bid farewell to a beloved son, to celebrate a charismatic man with the touch of Midas who rose from streets addled with social decay to piece together one of boxing’s most remarkable stories.
For nearly two decades, the 36-year-old’s easy demeanor fueled his immense popularity, and his emotional departure on Tuesday afternoon may have been the hardest part of the journey.
“Boxing is the love of my life,” said De La Hoya, standing at a podium just yards away from a recently unveiled statue of himself. “It is my passion; it is what I was born to do.”
More than that, it was what he was born to do to an exceptional standard. An Olympic gold medal and 10 world titles in six divisions is first ballot Hall of Fame material in its own right. He fought on HBO pay-per-view 19 times, generating $696.4 million in revenue and leaving boxing as its all-time leading pay-per-view performer.

Kanye Responds to South Park Vid.
SOUTH PARK MURDERED ME LAST NIGHT AND IT'S PRETTY FUNNY. IT HURTS MY FEELINGS BUT WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM SOUTH PARK! I ACTUALLY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY EGO THOUGH. HAVING THE CRAZY EGO IS PLAYED OUT AT THIS POINT IN MY LIFE AND CAREER. I USE TO USE IT TO BUILD UP MY ESTEEM WHEN NOBODY BELIEVED IN ME. NOW THAT PEOPLE DO BELIEVE AND SUPPORT MY MUSIC AND PRODUCTS THE BEST RESPONSE IS THANK YOU INSTEAD OF "I TOLD YOU SO!!!" IT'S COOL TO TALK SHIT WHEN YOU'RE RAPPING BUT NOT IN REAL LIFE. WHEN YOU MEET LITTLE WAYNE IN PERSON HE'S THE NICEST GUY FOR EXAMPLE. I JUST WANNA BE A DOPER PERSON WHICH STARTS WITH ME NOT ALWAYS TELLING PEOPLE HOW DOPE I THINK I AM. I NEED TO JUST GET PAST MYSELF. DROP THE BRAVADO AND JUST MAKE DOPE PRODUCT. EVERYTHING IS NOT THAT SERIOUS. AS LONG AS PEOPLE THINK I ACT LIKE A BITCH THIS TYPE OF SHIT WILL HAPPEN TO ME. I GOT A LONG ROAD AHEAD OF ME TO MAKE PEOPLE BELIEVE I'M NOT ACTUALLY A HUGE DOUCHE BUT I'M UP FOR THE CHALLENGE. I'M SURE THE WRITERS AT SOUTH PARK ARE REALLY NICE PEOPLE IN REAL LIFE. THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO DRAW MY CREW. THAT WAS PRETTY FUNNY ALSO!! I'M SURE THERE'S GRAMMATICAL ERRORS IN THIS... THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW IT'S ME!

Justin Timberlake and Lupe Fiasco will team up with pop singer Kenna to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds The artists will be amongst other adventurers to mount the 19,000-foot African peak as part of the effort to create awareness for the global water crisis. Kenna, co-ordinator for the giant ascend, revealed it would further fulfill a personal but a noble ambition.
"My dad almost died as a child from waterborne diseases in Ethiopia, and he had talked to me about digging a well there, and I thought, ‘I have too many friends who would be concerned with the subject of clean water. Maybe I can help out," Contactmusic quoted him as telling Elle magazine.
Lupe Fiasco said: "I’m an adventure junkie. Part of the motivation is beating Kenna to the top. Sabotaging his tent, taking the lining out of his coat, lacing it with ants or something like that."
T.I. talks 2010 Album
"Showcasing a new resilience, you know? Laughing in these suckers' faces. I'm going to get back to some of the old elements that put me on people's minds."
"Recording is never a problem for me," he said. "I'm able to record any time. Through the best of times and through the worst of times, I'm still able to record. It may change the sort of song you do, but you never can tell. You never know until that moment gets there."

Britney Spears Boo'd....sort of
"The building is awfully smoky," an announcer finally explained to the sold-out crowd, per the Vancouver Sun. "It's become uncomfortable and unsafe for the performers, including Ms. Spears. "Please extinguish all cigarettes…The show will resume as soon as the air around the stage is clear."
A spokesman for Orca Bay Sports and Entertainment, which owns GM Place, the Vancouver venue where the concert was held, said that despite initial reports claiming the smoky air was a byproduct of toking-up concertgoers, the smoke was believed to be from cigarettes, not marijuana. (The rep did not comment on why anything was being lit up in the first place, given as smoking indoors is illegal there.)
"We want to apologize to all the fans who attended our Vancouver show tonight for the brief pause in Britney's set," reads a statement on Spears' blog. "Crew members above the stage became ill due to a ventilation issue."

SHAQ IN DALLAS??
Mike Fisher, DallasBasketball.com: "Shaquille O’Neal didn’t just stay an extra day in Dallas because, as he claims, he wanted to visit the Grassy Knoll. We’re told the Suns legendary center also stayed behind because he thinks all the grass in Dallas might be greener — and that he is angling with Mavs owner Mark Cuban for an offseason trade to Big D. This storyline is just now revving up again thanks to Shaq’s weekend on the town, during which he repeatedly told friends about the Mavs being on his wish list. [...] 'Privately, he's not making any secret of it,' says one mutual friend of Shaq and DallasBasketball.com. 'I bet right after the season ends, it won’t be private anymore, either.'"
Tim MacMahon, The Dallas Morning News: "I absolutely believe that Shaq will push to be traded to Dallas this summer. It doesn't surprise me to read a source saying that process has already started. Mark Cuban and Shaq, the NBA's two best marketing brains, have been longtime admirers of each other. Their Twitter footsie last week was the continuation of flirtation that has been going on between the two for years. Potential deal: Expiring contracts Erick Dampier and Jerry Stackhouse for Shaq. Why would the Suns do it? Because they'd save a bunch of cash, including $5 million by buying out Stack. Shaq made sure to set up a meeting with Cuban during this trip. He tweeted his request to meet with Cuban and followed up on that by sending the visitor's locker room attendant over to Cuban's Stairmaster to make sure the Mavs' owner knew Shaq was serious. Cuban's Twitter report after he hooked up with the best big man of our generation: 'shaq found me. wish I could say what happened. I kept my cool.'"

AIR JORDAN
By Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports
Michael Jordan delivered the blueprint for the modern, iconic athlete. He didn’t just transcend basketball, but American sport. Tiger Woods gets compared far more with Jordan than he does Jack Nicklaus. Basketball hasn’t been alone searching for the next Jordan. As it turns out, so is everything else that uses a scoreboard.
Jordan taught sports how to pursue championships with ferocity and flair, style and grace. He always treated Sacramento in February like he did Madison Square Garden in the playoffs. Jordan was an industry, a movement, a happening. As much as Kobe Bryant and LeBron James chase each other, they also chase Jordan’s legend.
On Monday, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame welcomed Jordan as an elected member. Hours before his North Carolina Tar Heels play Michigan State for the NCAA title in Detroit, Jordan was introduced with the class of 2009 at a news conference.
They shouldn’t just give Jordan a plaque in Springfield, Mass., they should give him a wing. Truth be told, they should’ve let John Stockton and David Robinson and Jerry Sloan wait one year. They should’ve let Jordan into Springfield alone. He is too big to share a stage, his legacy too immense to be shared with Vivian Stringer.
The Basketball Hall of Fame is too political of a place. The voting belongs to insiders and the membership reflects it. The Hall of Fame should be for greatness and dominance, not the politically connected. It’s an insult to Jordan to have to share that shrine with faceless administrators and clownish TV hacks. Nevertheless, Jordan delivers a dose of credibility to sports’ most flawed Hall.
“I’m guessing the vote was unanimous,” Tim Grover said with a laugh on his cell phone Sunday.
Grover is the famous fitness guru out of Chicago, whom Jordan trusted with his most vital commodity: his body. Grover has a gym there, where he worked out ballplayers, but Jordan changed everything for him. When everyone else was gone – the adoring throng, the players, the press – there was Jordan and Grover. Sometimes, they were at Grover’s gym. Sometimes, they were on the road. Always, they were together. No other basketball player made a generation understand that greatness was an around-the-clock, around-the-calendar job.
“Michael would go for 40 or 50 points one night, and the next morning he was right back at it in practice,” Grover said. “He just couldn’t take a day off. His mental toughness was unbelievable, but the reason was that he was so physically ready every day. He used to have a saying, ‘I practice so hard because that makes the games easy for me.’ ”
Jordan’s legacy are the talents he spawned: Kobe, LeBron and Dwyane Wade. The next generation is so directly linked to Jordan, so influenced. Grover happened to be in Los Angeles on Sunday visiting Bryant, whom he’s called a client for several years now. The most direct descendent of Jordan on the planet, Bryant emulates him in every way: from his game, to his obsessive need for dominance, to his speech inflection.
Grover happened to be traveling with Bryant when he broke Jordan’s visiting scoring record at Madison Square Garden in February. Kobe dropped 61 on the Knicks, had a 2½-hour meeting with Spike Lee about a documentary in a hotel suite afterward, and wouldn’t you know it: “Kobe was back in the gym at 7:30 that next morning with me,” Grover said. “That’s the mental toughness that Michael had. They just always feel like that if I don’t work out, I just won’t feel right. Something will be missing in my day.”
Basketball is blessed with Kobe and LeBron and D-Wade, but Jordan remains a singular talent, a phenomenon, a generational happening. He was a confluence of events, a post Magic-Bird perfect storm for the NBA. The Hall of Fame will have a plaque that tells the pertinent facts: six NBA titles, five MVPs and 32,292 points.
Funny, but those things don’t stay with his old trainer the way the feeling of Jordan does.
“The one thing that I haven’t seen from anyone else yet is the sense that people felt on a day there was a game in Chicago,” Grover said. “People would start to get excited at 7 and 8 in the morning. It didn’t matter if you were going to be in the arena for the game. People would want to see Michael on the expressway to the arena. Just to see him walk into the building, people would flock to come watch. They would be waiting outside and thinking, ‘What’s he going to be driving? How’s he going to look?’
“They just wanted a glimpse. It was an unbelievable show.”
Michael Jordan goes into Springfield in September, and maybe they shouldn’t just give him a plaque – or even a wing. They should turn the whole building over to him. For one night, anyway, that should’ve been the plan. No shrine could ever do justice to his genius. You just had to be there.
